Booking terms & conditions
First of all, thank you for booking your stay with us. We know that when it comes to booking holidays, there are some parts that are boring and that you would rather not do! We kindly ask, however, that you spend some time reading through our Terms & Conditions as they contain important information and form part of the contract between you and us here at Mas de la Giralde.
We know this all sounds a bit formal, and is probably the last thing on your mind, but by providing these details before your arrival it means that you, any other guests and your hosts, Nick and Fiona, all understand the obligations laid out in the terms and conditions, leading to a more enjoyable stay for everyone.
How the Terms & Conditions Apply
These terms and conditions apply to all those who stay at Mas de la Giralde and also to us at Mas de la Giralde who are responsible for making your stay as enjoyable as possible. By placing a booking with us you are confirming that you, and all members of your party, understand and accept the Terms & Conditions laid out in this document.
At Mas de la Giralde we treat all your personal information with great care. Upon booking we will make a note of your contact details in case we need to contact you regarding your stay. We do not, however, store any of your bank details and all card payments are made using our third-party provider, Stripe. Please refer to their Terms and Conditions for how your payment details are treated.
How to Book, Booking Confirmation, Payment/Deposits and Cancellations
A deposit of 25% of the rental amount is required at the time of booking. The reservation will remain in force for 3 days from the day of your inquiry. If the deposit is not received, the booking dates will be released. All payments must be made in EUR. Initial payments can be made using either a credit card, or by online bank transfer. Please make payments of all balancing sums by bank transfer.
The balance of rental amount plus cleaning cost of 35€ (cleaning costs apply to gites only, not B&B) and tourist tax will be required no later than 14 days prior to your stay. Bookings made less than 14 days from arrival date will require immediate payment in full. In addition, for the gites only (not B&B), a security deposit of 250€ will be required prior to arrival.
Mas de la Giralde will provide an invoice with the required payment schedule.
If you have reason to cancel your booking prior to arrival, the following charges will apply:
More than 14 days’ notice of cancellation – all monies paid will be returned in full.
Cancellation within 14 days of arrival date – full rental amount will be forfeited.
COVID-19 – In the event that Government travel restrictions, not in place at the time of booking, are imposed preventing client travel at the reservation date, all monies will be returned in full.
COVID-19 – In the event that a member of the client party, or the owners, contracts COVID-19 prior to arrival, forcing cancellation of the reservation, all monies will be returned in full upon receipt of a relevant medical certificate.
The security deposit, the cleaning costs, and any local taxes paid in advance will be refunded in full on all cancellations.
The prices advertised on our site are accurate at the time of booking. Prices can change however, and we reserve the right to do so without notice. Guests are advised to check the website for the most up to date information including prices and promotions. Although prices may vary from time to time, your payable price is the price confirmed at the time of booking and the deposit payment.
Security Deposit (Gites only)
The client agrees to be a considerate tenant and to take good care of the gite and to leave it as found, in a clean and tidy condition at the end of the rental period. Mas de la Giralde reserves the right to make retention from the security deposit to cover additional cleaning costs if the client leaves the Property in an unacceptable condition.
The refund of this security deposit will be made within 72 hours of your departure, once the property has been fully inspected after your stay. The security deposit will be returned to the same source from which it was provided. For a full refund, the following provisions must be met:
No damage is done to the property or its contents, beyond normal wear and tear.
All debris, rubbish and discards are removed and placed in rubbish bin at the local collection point.
All soiled dishes etc. are washed and cleaned.
The gite has been left locked and secure with the keys returned to the owners.
No linens are lost or damaged.
The owner’s decision on reimbursements is final.
Hello and Goodbye
Your accommodation will be available to you from 16h00 on the day of your arrival, unless otherwise arranged. We appreciate that when travelling not everything runs like clockwork, therefore should you arrive earlier than expected, firstly chapeau! and secondly, we will try to make the communal spaces available to you and your party as quickly as possible. In order to ensure that we are available to welcome you on your arrival we kindly ask that all guests keep us advised of your expected time of arrival. We recommend that you arrive before dusk in order to make settling in more enjoyable and if you are going to be any later than 21h00 then we kindly ask that you let us know in advance. For Sunday arrivals please note that there are few, if any, shops open in the area after midday.
When it comes to the end of your stay, we ask that guests vacate their rooms/gites and any private spaces by 10h00 on the day of departure. Later departures are subject to availability, please contact us in advance to discuss.
Towels and bed linen
Bedding and towels are included for your stay. Please note there is no daily housekeeping service and daily maid service is not included in the rental rate. We recommend that you bring beach towels as we politely request that you do not remove towels or linens from the property during your stay.
Mas de la Giralde is set in a tranquil environment. Regrettably, we are unable to accept any reservations where the party includes any children under the age of 13 years. To bring younger children would be disrespectful to our other clients.
Pets are not allowed, under any circumstances. This is not negotiable.
In the summer months, the Ardèche is prone to the occasional forest fire. We therefore ask all guests to observe our policy of no naked flames around the site other than in designated areas.
We have a no smoking policy at Mas de la Giralde. We ask that smokers do not smoke in any of the rooms, covered seating areas or the swimming pool area. In other areas, please consider the impact on other clients and dispose of cigarette ends in a clean and responsible manner.
Parking and Gardens
Parking facilities are available on site and any vehicle, including its contents are left at the owner’s risk.
We have large gardens and grounds which clients are welcome to roam around. Mas de la Giralde is in a rural area where dry stone walls are a local and natural feature. These walls are unprotected and not built to today’s structural standards, so clients are responsible for their own safety when near them.
The swimming pool is available from 1 May to 30 September each year and from 9 hrs to 21 hrs each day. Exact pool opening dates may be subject to weather conditions. We maintain the pool daily, but if you notice any changes in the water please let us know. A safety notice and pool usage rules can be found in the gite and by the pool.
No glass, bottles or china are to be taken or used in the pool area. If any should fall into the pool, it may be necessary for us to empty, clean and refill the pool which would take a week. And the client may lose your security deposit and more as a consequence.
Mas de la Giralde reserves the absolute right to close or restrict the hours of the swimming pool use for any period in circumstances which the owners believe in their absolute discretion to be necessary in the interests of health and safety.
Mas de la Giralde are not held responsible for any loss or inconvenience that may be suffered because of any unforeseen breakdown in the pumping/filtration or any other equipment used in the pool.
Mas de la Giralde is not a large site so we ask that our guests do not invite any additional day or evening visitors on site without specific prior arrangement. This is to maximise everyone’s enjoyment of our spaces.
In order that all guests can experience the tranquility of our site, we respectfully ask that any noise is kept to a minimum after 22h00. Although it may seem obvious, we would also like to point out that due to the rural nature of the site you may hear various noises synonymous with rural activity such as the dawn chorus, the owls at night and the odd tractor down the lane.
Equipment and facilities
Should you experience any difficulties with the use of equipment at Mas de la Giralde please refer to operating details which for most items are contained in the manual. If that does not resolve the problem, please just ask us.
Please tell us immediately of any problems or defects or breakdown in equipment, plant, machinery or appliances in your room or gite, and arrangements for repair and/or replacement will be made as soon as possible. Any problems or equipment found missing whilst in the property should be reported immediately as no reparation can be made after the end of the holiday period.
The mains water is safe to drink, and hot water is supplied through heated tanks. Please be aware that the water can be extremely hot in the bathrooms. Mas de la Giralde is not on mains sewage, so our sewage system is serviced by septic tank. We appreciate your co-operation in using toilet paper and cleaning products that are suitable to use with septic tanks. We do provide toilet rolls and detergents etc. to cover your initial needs. The septic system is effective under normal use; however, it will malfunction if improper material is used. Please DO NOT FLUSH anything other than toilet paper. No feminine products should be flushed at any time.
At Mas de la Giralde we aim to have as little impact on the surrounding countryside as possible. To help us achieve this, guests are kindly requested to sort all items for waste into the correct recycling bins provided. We also request that all electric lighting and water taps are switched off when not in use.
Should you find you have any complaint during your stay at Mas de la Giralde, please notify us immediately and we will do all we can to rectify the problem. Should you remain unsatisfied please notify us in writing within 7 days of the end of your stay.
It is your responsibility to ensure that you and all members of your party are covered by the appropriate insurance for the duration of your stay. By completing a booking with Mas de la Giralde you agree to observe our guidance and recommendations and take full responsibility for your own safety.
We endeavour to provide all the facilities, utilities and services promoted on our website at all possible times, however we are not liable to pay any refund should any of these services fail.
The information contained on our website is for general information purposes only. The information is provided by us and whilst we endeavour to keep the information up-to-date and correct, we make no representations or warranties of any kind express or implied about the completeness, accuracy, reliability, suitability, or availability with respect to the website or the information, products, services, or related graphics contained on the website for any purpose. Any reliance you place on such information is therefore strictly at your own risk.
In no event will we be liable for any loss or damage including without limitation, indirect or consequential loss or damage, or any loss or damage whatsoever arising from loss of data or profits arising out of or in connection with the use of this website. Our website provides links to other websites which are not under the control of Mas de la Giralde. We have no control over the nature, content, and availability of those sites. The inclusion of any links does not necessarily imply a recommendation or endorse the views expressed within them. Every effort is made to keep the website running smoothly and efficiently. However, Mas de la Giralde takes no responsibility for and will not be liable for the website being temporarily unavailable due to technical issues beyond our control.
By accepting our Terms & Conditions you are accepting responsibility for any breakages or damages that you cause to the accommodation and its contents during your stay.
We reserve the right to charge guests for missing items, replacement or making good if the damage or breakages are significant, this also applies to missing towels and bed linen.

We would like everybody that visits Mas de la Giralde to enjoy a luxury and tranquil escape and it is for this reason that we request our guests look after all of the spaces at Mas de la Giralde in order to preserve them for future visitors.
